Because Living is more than just Breathing

What gives me life? A few of my favourite things?

A games night full of deep belly laughs with friends and family.

Exploring the secret cave the boys found at the park.

Trying to find the perfect harmony part to the person with the sweet signing voice sitting close by at church.

Nachos and Cheese while trying to unlock the mysteries of the Marvel Universe with my favourite person in this one.

Based on the above, I'm classified as an extrovert. I get life from being around others. And oh, I love the Mountains. Three Houses Park and monkey watching are a great substitute.

The pro-choicers often say that we pro-lifers are simply anti-abortion; That we don't actually care about the child's life after they are born. (Working with Unborn Justice has proven otherwise). Notice, even though they would prefer to remove the life all together, they do at least know that life is more than simply breathing. Life is for living.

People are losing their lives because of Corona. Many people may not be getting sick from this new virus, but are still losing their lives.
I've seen at least 3 news articles for 2021 already about suicides in Barbados. The latest one was about a 19 year old! It's almost like they've been brushed under the carpet. I've heard zero discussion on that! There are many causes of suicide, but the rates worldwide have skyrocketed since the various lockdowns.

What about those losing their livelihoods? Simply breathing isn't living.
What about that fisherman (this didn't make the news) that, all by himself, endangering no-one, went fishing outside of the 'allowed time' (like fish have watches and will come out exactly when the government decides) and the police arrest him and take away his equipment! What does his family at home eat? Cause he hasn't been able to sell...is this the living we were aiming at?

How many businesses are closed? Even doctors have had to close their practices... in a medical crisis. How many of our youth will have long term issues? How many of our elderly will go into depression from loneliness? We cannot try to save lives by stopping living.

And we know something is terribly wrong when the punishment doesn't match the crime. $50,000??? Trying to pay that or sitting in prison for 10 months will destroy lives too! There's something else at play here, but I'll leave the politics of Government control to the bigger brains.

We were created for community. This reactive ''we don't know what to do so let's just lock everyone up...with no plan'', it isn't Ok. There needs to be a plan for living. Living with Corona. Like we have a plan for living with AIDS...they didn't lock up people having sex. They came up with a plan. That's what we need. An actual plan.

We have such an advantage being an island nation. We had it under control in 2020...till they dropped the ball at the borders but locked us up.

Figure it out, leaders. Don't panic. Don't be afraid. Help us to live. Truly live.

Bird.
